Electricity is generated by producers who transform the power to down to a voltage safe enough for retailers to sell it to your home or business.
In Alberta, wholesale electricity prices are determined hourly and affected by supply and demand factors that drive the price accordingly.
While all retailers buy electricity at the same price, the rate that consumers pay is affected by factors such as market conditions, competition and consumer expectations.
With the highest temperatures forecasted in Alberta in nearly 35 years, we want to make sure you have all the right tools to minimize the impact on your electricity bills
A note about fair competition:
All customers are free to purchase natural gas services from the default supply provider or from a retailer of their choice and to purchase electricity from a regulated rate provider or from a retailer of their choice. The delivery of natural gas and electricity to you is not affected by your choice. If you change you you purchase natural gas or electricity services from, you will continue receiving natural gas and electricity from the distribution company in your service area.
